Practicing Environmental Stewardship

Environmental stewardship is a cornerstone of our sustainability efforts. We recognize that to be a responsible and positive steward, we have to examine everything we touch along our path, starting with farms and ranches.

Our farmers practice integrated, holistic farming that plans and manages for land stewardship. For example, some of our hog farmers reduce their waste stream by turning farming by-products into compost that feeds nutrients back into the soil. Our cattle ranchers follow “Graze Well" principles that include criteria for water conservation, riparian buffers, rotational grazing management to minimize re-biting, integrated pest management and support of biological land diversity.

Ultimately, our goal is to do more than reduce our impact on the world around us. It's to build a more resilient and healthier Earth.

Every farmer and rancher promotes and upholds strict environmental standards.
