Learn About
Our Cows

All of our beef comes directly from family ranchers like Mark and Tami Rietmann (pictured) and Tami's brother, Brad Anderson. They raise cattle and grow wheat on a sprawling ranch in the foothills of Oregon's Blue Mountains — a ranch homesteaded by Tami and Brad's great-grandfather back in 1881. Their passion for sustainability comes to life in many ways, from the wind turbines they're installing on their property to generate off-grid electricity to the strict environmental measures they've undertaken to mitigate their cattle's impact on land and water. Mark, Tami and Brad are part of a beef cooperative dedicated to doing what's right both for animals (no antibiotics, added hormones or growth enhancers) and for the planet.

The Critical Link.

Farmers are a critical link for how food gets to our plate — we honor and respect their work, recognizing that they play a unique role in our food system. They are some of the hardest working folks we know, rising before the sun and adjusting their work pattern according to the weather — no easy feat when we think about climatic variations!

Strengthening the Connection.

We aspire to build strong relationships with our farmers — getting to know who they are, what matters to them, and therefore why this matters to the food that we make. We want to strengthen the connection between farmer and consumer.
